Smoothie Recipes!

Smoothies For Cheap!
Recently I've been posting , pinning and tweeting about the wonderful smoothies I have incorporated into my every day life. I purchase  most all of my ingredients in Bulk from Costco, costing a mere $20 every 2-3 weeks. The Mangos and Pineapples already come pre cut and frozen in a sealable bag. I buy the spinach bulk and it is freezable, so I divide it up into 2cup baggies and freeze. Bananas only run $1.29 for a bundle of 8, and these freeze as well!
Every time I post, at least one person asks for the recipe. Truth be told, I have many, so I will lay them all out for ya here!

Items I always use:
*DONT FORGET TO ADD THESE*
Spinach / Kale or Both!
1 cup Organic Apple Juice base
 5 Ice Cubes
Truvia

Green Machine
1 cup Spinach
1/2 cup Kale
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup frozen mango

Staycation
1 cup spinach
1/2 cup Kale
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup frozen mango
2 tbsp. coconut oil

Mango Morning Glory
1 cup spinach
1 banana
1 cup frozen mango
1/2 tsp coconut oil

Pineapple Express
1 large Kale leaf
1/2 cup spinach
1 cup pineapple
1 banana
1/2 tsp coconut oil

Strawberry Peach Bananarama
1/4 cup strawberry banana yogurt
1 banana
5 frozen peach slices
*1 cup spinach optional*

I have been drinking a smoothie for breakfast (around 5am) each day, and have been full until about 12:00, not bad! They average about 350 calories, and the main source of calories is the coconut oil. Coconut Oil is high in calories and fat, BUT remember, it's the good kind! The kind your body needs and wants as opposed to the kind you get from a big ole' juicy cheeseburger!
I recommend a good blender, as greens (especially kale) can been a bit finicky when it comes to blending. I use a Ninja, and it was one of the best investments I've ever made!
If you want to cut back on the calories because you are looking for a quick snack, nix the oil and do 1/2 cup of water + 1/2 cup of apple juice instead of 1 cup of apple juice.
Over the past few weeks I have noticed that I am not craving as many sweets ( and I am the QUEEN of ice cream and candy), I haven't been hungry as frequently and am not snacking out of boredom. I have also had more energy which is working out great with my new early morning work schedule! Also, I start my day off happy with the decision to fuel my body with fruits and veggies instead of cereal and breads. It always helps when you start your day off with good decisions :)

Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe?!

    1. LoL I love that you just said freezed?! I have never frozen one and let it thaw out for an on-the-go breakfast, although I hear it's possible. I just like the fresh creamy equally frozen chemistry of a smoothie straight from the blender...OCD problems ;)
