Haul Review!

NEW FAVORITES & NEW FLOPS
Howdy guys! I've been in NYC this week and just returned :) what an awesome city!
I wanted to review some of the products that I purchased before my trip on my Target & Ulta haul and let you know what I thought of them before I review the products I got in the city, so, here you are :

1. Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo
Not a huge fan. Leaves white residue and doesn't spray evenly. You have to shake and spray in spurts to really get anything out. I felt like I was using my old bottle right before it kicked because the product would only spray sporadically. I except that from a bottle that is almost gone, not one that is brand new. Unless things change, I don't think I'll be repurchasing.

2. Argo Cornstarch
This stuff rocks! If you are shinny, oily, greasy, slippery looking, whatever, THIS IS YOUR PRODUCT! My face looks like a damn oil slick usually, however, this cheap, awesome kitchen product absorbs all of my shine! A huge tub of this stuff runs about $1.50, I don't think it gets better than that folks! Just use a blush or powder brush and sweep a little cornstarch over your face when you are done applying everything. It sets your makeup and keeps you shine free!

3. Maybelline Age Rewind Makeup Eraser
This stuff is ok. The Applicator is neat but a little tricky. You have to guess how many clicks will give you enough product. Overall the coverage is good and it's long lasting when topped with cornstarch! The color selection with this product is pretty great, and I would use it again! Does wonders for my under eyes!

4. Ardell False Glamour Lashes
Haven't tried yet!

5. Ardell False Fright Night Lashes
These things rock! I've worn them every day for the past 4 days. I had to trim them a bit, but after sizing and shaping these have been perfect! I've been cleaning them with baby shampoo and coconut oil, the oil leaves them soft, clean and ready to be reused. Hopefully I can get several more days out of these!

6. Duo False Lash Adhesive
This is the only adhesive I will ever use to put my lashes on! Cheap, long lasting, and easy to use!

7. E.L.F Contour Brush
I don't know how I've gone this long without a contour brush like this. I love the way it gives you control over the area you are placing color, as well as the shape you are trying to create. It's perfect for all eye types and a mere $3!!
8. E.L.F Angeled Liner Brush
Haven't tried yet!

9. NYX Eyebrow Shadow
This kit comes with a gel, two brunette colors, a wand, and a brush. I love it and will purchase again. Long lasting and the kit allows for precision in a small compact, beautiful!

10. Tweezerman Slanted Tweezer
These things rock and were totally worth the price! Not only have I not had to pluck since the day I got them, but they are essential to use when applying fake lashes! LOVE Tweezerman AND the design :)
11. Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and Top Coat Polish
The day before I left for NYC I painted my nails, using this product as the base coat, and Essie for the color. In 4 days I have one chip, on my thump nail, which is my fault! This stuff rocks and I probably wouldn't have the chip if I used this polish as a top coat as well! Usually 4 days in you can barely tell what color my nails were :) will be purchasing again for sure!

12. Revlon Colorstay 24 hour Gel Liner
I.Love.This.Product! Ok, I have always been hesitant of gel eyeliners. They usually smudge off and create a lovely black rainbow along my lid, or it just runs, or smears, or makes me look like a zombie by the end of the day. This stuff is amazing!! No smearing, running or becoming a zombie! It stays in place and hides any sign of fake lashes with a onceover after applying the falsies! New favorite!

13. Maybelline Cover Stick
This thing is awesome and  really keeps redness down. It's green so for me it works with my foundation to even my tone and cover discoloration. This stick is a long time favorite, and a cheapy :)

Evening Primrose Oil

NEW.PRODUCT.ALERT

I've noticed the past few weeks that my skin has just really hit rock bottom.  Something HAD to be done! No amount of concealer, foundation, cream, or powder, could cover the mess that was My Face! I began searching for answers online, as my acne has only been present since I stopped taking birth control. I stumbled across Evening Primrose Oil, both in a Google search and while on Pinterest, and decided it was worth a shot, so I headed out to good Ole' Trader Joe's and picked up this bottle for about $8.00
Primrose Oil is mostly known for helping with skin issues such as eczema, acne and redness. It also is used as a dietary weight loss supplement and to strengthen hair and nails. Medicinally, it can be used to help with side effects for arthritis, PMS, multiple sclerosis, and much more as it is an all natural anti inflammatory. I have only been using this since Saturday, but can certainly tell a difference in my skin and the amount of "shedding" that my hair does while in the shower. I will report back in a few weeks to see if any other changes take place!

BIORES FACE LIFT
Have you see the coupons, magazine ads, and commercials featuring Biore's new look?! I decided to give their new face wash a chance, as it smells fabulous and the $3.00 coupon made the bottle about 1/2 off! The new soap is a fun, fresh bright orange color and the smell  is light with hints of citrus.
Look how nice this looks!!

Between starting this soap and taking the Primrose Oil, my skin has really done a 180! The soap has little beads that swipe away dry skin, and it doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and tight. It really does polish your face, I highly recommend!

Have you tried either product? If so, what for?!

Coconut Oil for Hair and Skin!

Well, it's March again which means I've got Bronchitis...Boo!
Only good thing is that I have a little extra time to blog and review!
After visiting the doc yesterday, I was advised to drink as much as possible to keep my throat hydrated... so... here's what I'm sippin' on :

In the blue mug, I've got regular Sleepy Time Tea with real Sugar.
In the Mason Jar, I've got a delicious smoothie!
The smoothie has organic apple juice, strawberry yogurt, a banana, a few blueberries and a teaspoon of coconut oil, plus about 7 ice cubes. DE-LICIOUS

You may be a bit turned off by the fact that my smoothie has, well ,oil in it, but before you go on thinking I'm a crazy person, listen to the benefits that coconut oil has!

First off, Coconut oil is not a liquid like Olive Oil or any other cooking oil. If left in an environment under 74 degrees it is a solid, meaning that it would of course blend as a solid since it is being mixed
with ice cubes! That makes it a little less disgusting, right?

Also, Coconut oil has a ton of antioxidants, which help with healing, immunity, acne, digestion, infections, weight loss, and much much more. All over the world people cook with coconut oil and add it to smoothies and shakes as an easy way to incorporate this protein packed gem into their every day diets. Just this weekend I substituted coconut oil to use on the bottom of my cooking pan while making pancakes, and they turned out great!

SO, ONTO THE BEAUTY PART!
Coconut oil can be used as a great makeup remover, skin moisturizer, anti aging serum, frizz controller, shaving cream, deodorant, cuticle soother, stretch mark healer,
massage oil, hair mask, and even lip balm.

The best thing... it smells AMAZING and its CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!
I got my jar from Trader Joes for a mere $5.50, and this is a pretty hefty jar!
Last night I tried the oil as an overnight lotion. A little goes a long way, so this jar should last you a looong time!  I've read that some folks keep a bottle in the shower, one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen, just to be sanitary. This is a good idea because you really will notice yourself wanting it everywhere you are, and you don't want to be dipping into your "shaving cream"
when you're cooking dinner hahaha!

Anywho, I spooned a tiny bit out and transferred it to my palm, then I rubbed my palms together creating heat which turns the oil into it's liquid state. I slathered it all over my face, around my eyes, on my neck and then with the extra just rubbed it on my hands, like lotion. You should wait 10-15 minutes before letting your face touch the pillow because it could transfer a little onto your pillowcase. Anyway, the oil wasn't greasy but it looked a little shiny at first, after a few minutes my skin drank it all up, and my face was as smoothe as a babies butt! I woke up this morning, skin glowing, and knew I'd be using more of this.

Remember folks, your skin is the bodies largest organ... most of us tend to put harsh things on our skin every day, from soap, to makeup, to acne lotions and face masks loaded with toxins. Whatever touches your skin goes into your bloodstream, why wouldn't you want to try something that is organic and does so much good?!

ONTO THE HAIR!
With Bronchitis, you can't go to work for a day or two, SO I decided that I'd try out the coconut hair mask. I was a little hesitant because my skin is oily... which means my scalp is oily...which means my hair is oily. Putting oil into my hair seemed pretty crazy, but, I thought I'd give it a whirl since I wasn't going to be seeing anyone today anyways haha!

I was taken back by the shine, lack of build up, lightness, smell, and ease associated with this process! Usually when I dry my hair I get frizzy, my hair dries in different directions, and no matter how much I try to shape it, it never falls just quite right. Check this out :

My hair is clearly shiny, it's straight just from drying, and it not frizzy! Also, my head smells like an Almond Joy, seriously, my dogs wont stop sniffing my head, look!!

This is my little mud bucket, Petunia!
APPLICATION: I did not melt the oil before putting it on my head, because I knew from using it as a moisturizer, that it would melt with my own body heat. I took a clump and started at the top of my head and spread it down through my hair. Rubbing it heats it and allows it to glide through your locks. Once I felt I had enough (especially at the roots and tips), I tied it up in a bun and waited about an hour. I showered and washed the oil out with regular Pantene shampoo and conditioner and styled without any product!

While in the shower I also decided to try to see if it worked as a good shaving cream, I used it on my underarms and it did a pretty great job!

I certainly plan on using this on the reg, it's awesome, cheap and has multiple benefits and uses, what's not to love?! What do you think?

Target Haul & Carli Bybel Look

.NEW.MAKEUP.ALERT.
Or
.NERD.ALERT.
 whateveryouwant2callit

I've been watching a lot of videos recently because I feel so out of touch with the makeup world! Surprisingly, I came across Carli Bybel on Pinterest and had to see if she was entertaining. Overall I think she's pretty neat, and she sure is pretty! After watching her videos for an hour, I decided to take a trip to good ole Target. One of the biggest things I loved about her YouTube channel was that she often gave drug store alternatives to her more expensive products.

She was big on L'Oreal, including True Match Lumi Foundation, True Match Pressed Powder, Telescopic Mascara and she mentioned loving the Give Me Gold palette from Maybelline too. I tried it all since I was in need of most of it anyway, AND I picked up some of the makeup from Walgreens because they were having a Buy 1 get 1 Free sale :)

Overall, I really liked everything that I tried! I also ended up getting a Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer that I'm pretty in love with. All of the products together give you a bright finish without being shiny or greasy looking.

Also while at Target I had to pick up some flats for a job interview... I saw these and fell in love!

They are super rad, however, if you notice above the studs, the back of the shoe is a little tall, resulting in DIGGING! I wore them in with the ole wool sock & hair dryer trick but the back has strong backing and refused to give. Hopefully after a few more times under the heat it will become more malleable and in turn, not rub the crap out of the back of my ankle.  I'll keep you posted :)

that's all folks

Products That Save The Day!

Hola!

It's been awhile, and I know I said I was "back" in August, but moving requires lots of money, time and decorating. A lot more than I obviously could have ever imaged!
.SO.
Here I am!
Nearly 7 months later.
Ready to blog my fingers off!

I have a few products that I use every day and have added to my routine during my 7 month hiatus, so, here they are!

1.  up & up * Target Brand* Makeup Remover Cleansing Towlettes
I love these for many reasons. My top two reasons include that this pack of 25 is around $3.00 and they are great for taking off eyeliner! I don't know about you, but I want to SEE the makeup on my wipe afterwards, otherwise, I know it's all still on my face! These babies are perfect for before bed. I was notorious for going to bed with my "face" still on, (I know, its terrible, but sometimes you just gotta crash) I keep a pack of these on my dresser and another pack on my nightstand. Super easy to grab and makes going to bed without makeup on an absolute no brainer!

2. got2b Dry Shampoo
I got this gem on a clearance rack at good ole' Safeway! Needless to say, I love this stuff! I had previously been using Dry Shampoo by Suave, Psst, and a few other drug store brands, but they usually had a strong scent, or left a ton of white residue in my hair, even after blasting my roots with a dryer after spraying. This stuff is awesome. It soaks up grease, gives volume, doesn't really have a scent, and you can't tell that you've sprayed your head with something!

3. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
This stuff is really great for quick simple coverage. It does a good job of creating a balance on your face, without feeling like you are caked with color. It's cheap, has great coverage and lasts a while, especially when topped with a translucent powder, which brings me to my next product!

4. NYC Smooth Skin Translucent Powder
This stuff saves the day, EVERY day! I use it as a finishing powder as I am lucky enough to have oily skin (sarcasm)! This stuff keeps the shine away and works as a great topper on all foundations. It is very inexpensive and can be found at your local Target. This paired with the Maybelline BB cream is perfect for a quick flawless look, which I often wear to work.

More fun to come!
Adios!
