Clean yo Brushes!

Brush Care

Sometimes we take advantage of the ease and availability of our daily brushes. It is important to remember that they need love too, as they can carry bacteria and germs GALORE. Below are my directions for once a month brush care. Cleaning your brushes can help your face be both irritation and infection free.

What measures do you take to make sure your product and tools are clean?

  1. Monday to Saturday I clean my brushes with Clinique brush cleanser.. quick spray and wipe... every Sunday I deep clean my brushes with water, and a mix of antibacterial soap and extra virgin olive oil... But I saw a brush soap by Becca on Pink Sith I think, and I like the convenience of it, but not the price.

    1. I have tried Olive Oil too but it left my brushes a little greasy. How much do you use? I also use Ulta brush cleaning spray which I love!!

  2. As far as eyeshadow brushes go, I wash them once a week with dish washing soap and olive oil. But I wash my sponges, face and powder brushes everyday. Then I set the brushes standing up bristles down on a thick towel inside a drawer so the excess water can drain out properly, and I put them in the drawer to keep dust from falling on them! I plan on trying out brush guards very soon, because it will make this process much easier!

  3. I steal a bit of my one year old's Johnson's baby wash and wash them with that. Sometimes Dawn in a pinch. I clean tweezers and such with alcohol right after I use them and right before I use them. Good tips :)

    1. Good Idea!! Tweezers have GOT to be cleaned often and they aren't something everyone always thinks about. Thanks for sharing all of your great tips!
